Welcome current and emancipated students to Fullerton College!
The FYSI program is committed to supporting ambitious, college-bound students exiting the foster care system. Fullerton College created a support network for our current and former foster youth that includes many of our student support services and programs that extend to local agencies that deliver services and aid to foster youth students. The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) has recognized that there is a significant deficit regarding youth from foster youth attending higher education.
Acknowledging this need, they are sponsoring a concerted effort called the Foster Youth Success Initiative (FYSI) to bring issues affecting these youth to the forefront and to improve the ability of these youth access to high education. During Fall 2008, the Fullerton College EOPS program opened its doors for the emancipated foster youth, probation youth and adopted youth. The FYSI assistance that the EOPS program can provide a dedicated Student Services Specialist/ Foster Youth Liaison to meet with and help connect students to services both on and off campus to help with basic needs to be a successful student.
